Can we make water by air?

It is possible to harvest water from air almost anywhere in the world. Our core Air-to-Water unit uses a turbine that forces air through a heat exchanger, where the air is cooled and condensation takes place. A hybrid solution (solar/wind/grid) can be deployed to the same effect by driving a ventilation system.

Is it possible to generate water from air?

Why can’t we just make water?

No. Boiling seawater does not make it safe to drink because it doesn’t remove the salt. Freshwater on the other hand – say from a river – can be boiled to make it safe enough to drink.

Mini models can use as little as 22 watts, while high-volume dehumidifiers go up to around 500 watts. An example dehumidifier that can extract up to 20 litres a day, with a wattage of 480w would use 0.48 kWh, meaning that an hour’s usage would cost just under 16p.

Can Earth run out of water?

In reality, the world won’t run out of water. Water does not leave Earth, nor does it come from space. The amount of water the world has is the same amount of water we’ve always had. However, we could run out of usable water, or at least see a drop to very low reserves.
