I have never had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Krippendorf Lodge and I’ve always wanted to. All of that changed last Friday when I had the chance to be with Melanie and Brad for their wedding day.
They day couldn’t have been more perfect for the two of them. The weather was perfect, the lodge was the perfect backdrop and the clouds broke right when we went out for couple portraits making for some my favorite landscape pictures I have ever been able to shoot.
Their family and friends were a blast to be around all day as well. They knew how to throw a party! I even got to finish up the day at their favorite pub in Ft. Thomas with all of them hanging out at having fun. It was awesome!
Melanie and Brad, the two of you made my day extra easy. You threw an incredible wedding full of great details and you were so calm and laid back all day…a recipe for a great wedding day! Thanks for letting be a part. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

This session almost didn’t happen. Sonya’s hair person had strep throat, it was crazy hot and humid that day and then 20 minutes before the session it rained so hard that we all thought we were going to have to cancel. But we didn’t. And it was perfect.
I loved so much about this session: the clouds, the sun, the architecture, the red dress and they way they look on camera. But what I loved the most was getting to walk around their alma mater and hear stories of why that campus means so much to them. They were both in the RA program there when they met, Chris in pharmacy school and Sonya in CCM. She said, “here’s where we used to sneak out of our dorms after bed check and make out.” Every step we took was filled with memories for the two of them and I was lucky enough to relive some of it with them.
Sonya and Chris, I am incredibly honored to be a part of your journey. Thanks for showing me around the places that mean so much to you. Here are some of my favorites from our time together:
Alisha and Mike are a great couple. They showed themselves to be troopers too when they braved the heat for our Hyde Park and Mt. Adams engagement session on Tuesday night. Even though it was hot, the light was gorgeous and it made for some fun picture times.
As we were walking I asked them both the question, “So what draws you together?” Mike’s immediately said, “God.” and then followed with, “Everything just fit, it was meant to be.” How incredible of an answer is that? Then Alisha quickly said, “His eyes.” Again, great answer:) There is just an ease about their relationship, nothing feels forced. Mike’s right, they just fit.
Alisha and Mike, thanks for an incredible evening of conversation and pictures. You guys are amazing and I am so excited for you as you fly off to Cancun next February for your amazing destination wedding! Here are some of my favorites from our time together:
You may remember Diana and Richard from our incredible Northside engagement session a few months back. I knew after that session that this wedding was going to be pretty special. They are a great looking couple and they have incredible chemistry with each other. They have the unique ability to have an intimate moment while a photographer is a couple feet away snapping pictures. And that moment is real. You can look at their faces and know that they are connected with each other on an incredibly deep level. It is beautiful.
It was so great to work with Honour from Brideface as she made Diana look even more gorgeous than she already is. Jen Nally rocked the hair as she always does. It makes this photographer look so much better when you have some of the best around on hair and makeup. I was also digging all the little extra touches that Diana and Richard put into the day. She was wearing Vera Wang flats and the perfect bracelet and earring to compliment her look. Richard picked out the perfect suits and even got all the guys matching socks and watches. I was also digging the paper goods, some of which Diana designed and some she got from Etsy.
All in all, it was a pretty special day despite the brutal heat. This couple is madly in love and I am so excited for their future. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

I have promised myself I am going to start writing a little less in my blog posts because I know everyone wants to just get on to the pictures. It’s so hard because I want to tell you all the fun details about the wedding and the couple and it’s hard to just fit it into a couple paragraphs. It’s going to be really difficult, but here goes…
Katherine and Marty are the kind of gracious and caring couple that you would expect from a couple Southerners. Their class and heart was evident at every turn as their concern was always for their guests. At one point, as the DJ was telling everyone to stand on their feet to welcome them into their reception, Katherine even motioned to the crowd as if to say, “Sit down, no need to make a big deal about us.” I found it humbling. Even in a moment that they fully deserved all the recognition, they were still concerned with everyone else. Very refreshing.
As you can see the wedding was gorgeous. St. Peter in Chains is such a awe inspiring church and The Phoenix is a classic and beautiful place for a reception. Paul and Alex from Fleur de Lis Events & Design created one of the most stunning atmospheres for a wedding that I have been a part of. They even arranged all of the florals for the whole day! Unbelievable work. The couple were both Kentuckians (my kind of people) and met at University of Louisville (their least desirable trait). The centerpieces all had a very elegant Southern horse stable feel to them and the table place cards were all custom cut paper glued to horseshoes from Churchill Downs…how cool is that?
All in all, this wedding was one I will remember for a while. Katherine and Marty, their friends and family, the details…all of it was so special. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

Saturday was such a great day! Bill and Andrea looked amazing and were so incredible to hang out with. Even the Cincinnati summer heat couldn’t keep them down.
We started our day in Oakley at Andrea and Bill’s house with the girls getting made even more beautiful by the incredibly talented Corey Adams. Andrea even had custom robes made for each of the girls, so cute! Bill and the boys got ready in Mt. Lookout and then headed over to the church for some group shots. I think you’ll agree that the church was an amazing place for a beautiful ceremony. Their priest had everyone cracking up, it was great. And how amazing are those paper goods from Kristen at Five Dot Design?
Then we headed out to Alms Park for some brief (due to heat) but really fun bridal party and couple pictures. This couple couldn’t look more amazing on camera. They were relaxed and super easy going even though they were ready to get back in that air conditioned bus.
To finish off the night they had an amazing reception at The Phoenix! What a gorgeous venue for a classic and timeless wedding. Johnny Clueless rocked the house and made the party so much fun. I hav enever seen a more dancing group of people in my life!
Andrea and Bill, you were perfect hosts! I loved every minute of the time I spent with you guys. Your families and friends are incredible and the looks you guys kept giving each other told me everything I needed to know about your relationship:) Here are some of my favorites from your day:

I think you’ll agree with me that Diana and Richard are a great looking couple! In addition they are the type of couple that makes a photographer’s job super easy. When they look at each other they can’t help but smile, when they talk they can’t help but laugh and when you tell them to “have a moment” they really have a moment. Nothing is faked and it shows!
Northside really is one of those places that possesses photographic magic. I’ve only done a few sessions there, but both times the light has been amazing and the backgrounds/textures couldn’t be any more fun.
Diana and Richard, thanks for a fun time and for taking a little walk with me in Northside. I can’t wait for your (really fast approaching) wedding:) Here a few of my favorites from the day:
Every now and then you see a commercial on TV or a advertisement in a magazine and you think “yeah right, life isn’t really like that.” Well this was one of those weddings that if you saw it in an episode of your favorite show about young/hip people you wouldn’t think it could ever be real. All Karee and Jeremy’s wedding needed was a soundtrack and it was ready for the big screen.
Karee and Jeremy are the most incredible couple. He makes music with a band called The Devil Wears Prada and she is on her way up the ladder in the fashion world. They both live in Chicago and have the best group of friends that support and love them. When they decided to get married they knew they wanted it to be a party. Not just a one day kinda party, the kind of party that lasts all week. So they invited their family and entire bridal party (40+ in all) to get a GIGANTIC beach house in Destin, FL and had a wedding week:) Then, on top of that, another 30+ people came in for the ceremony last Saturday. It really was one of the cooler things I have ever been a part of.
While I was hanging out with Karee’s family before the wedding her mom told me why they chose to have their wedding in Destin. She said that they had been coming to Destin on vacation ever since Karee was a little girl. Every year they would hang out on the beautiful white sand beaches and play on the emerald green water and Karee would say, “Someday I’m gonna get married on this beach.” Last weekend a little girl’s fairy tale wedding became real life:)
The location, the styling, the party, the people…it was all perfect. I loved being a part of it all. Thanks to my friend Rich for flying in to help shoot and grabbing so many incredible shots. Karee and Jeremy, I love you both so much! I can’t wait to come to Chicago and hang out sometime. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day:

Good Shepherd Church and Savannah Center | West Chester, OH All you have to do is look at these to see that this couple was one of the most fun I’ve ever been around. Their laughs and smiles are so contagious. Even more contagious than that is their complete infatuation with each other. When they look at each other you know they are in love.
Something else you can’t miss in these pictures is what a great looking couple they are! I absolutely LOVE the styling they chose for their entire wedding. The dresses, the hair, the shoes, the suits, the Chuck’s, the colors…it all just worked so well. A memorable wedding from a style perspective for sure.
Above all the details, the style and the beauty were two people and two families celebrating something extremely significant. These two are madly in love, their families love them and everyone couldn’t be happier for Ashley and Ed. It was a honor to play such an important role in one of the biggest days of their lives.
Ashley and Ed, I love you guys:) Here are some of my favorites from the day:
